10 Shark

Though much feared, considering the numbers of people in the water and the numbers of sharks, its amazing that there were not more than 61 unprovoked attacks by sharks on humans in 2004, only 7 of these were fatal.  The main shark species responsible for killing man are the Great White and the Tiger shark.   Surfers are especially vulnerable to shark attack, in Florida, South Africa and Australia.  Scientists believe that the sharks mistake them for wounded seals.

9 Wolf

20 villagers in western Uzbekistan have been injured by wolves in five months this year. Two died of their wounds. One Uzbek said, "At night, the wolves own the village. First, they ate all the dogs. Now they have begun to eat our sheep and cows."  Villagers in eastern Finland have similar problems as wolf numbers increase in neighbouring Russia and cross over the border into Europe.  They organise wolf hunts to stop the animals eating their dogs.
